One of the first things I did when I reached the Greek island of Rhodes, was visit the capital, Rhodes Town. The city consists of 2 parts, the Old Town and the New Town, held together by a beautiful harbour.
It is a truely beautiful city, full of charm and history. I love how you could see the traditional aspects right up next to the modern day comforts. The old town was my favourite part, all the small alleys filled with little suprises, like shops and even spas. The harbour was really impressive, especially the 2 cruise liners that were in! And the new town brings all the comfots of home right to this little island! An amazing city, I would recommend to all!
A view of the historical fishing harbour.
An adorable fishing boat.
The crystal clear waters, even in the harbour.
One of the cruise liners, actually from the same family as the Costa Concordia! For those of you who don't keep up with current events in Italy, its a boat that crashed into the rocks along the coast and everyone had to evacuate!
Some modern day boats, the second and largest one is mine!!! haha!
Me, by the old harbour.
A traditional Greek Windmill, in front on the very impressive cruise ship!
These were at either end of the harbour and I think they were called the Tour of France, rather strangely, but I am not completely sure!
All around the edges of the Old town were these walls. Some have become ruined but they are very dramatic and very impressive. They make a fort around the old city.
Inside of these scary walls are cute and quaint little streets that are busteling with livelihood. Every corner holds something new and exciting, and the stores are amazing! Selling hand made jewellery and traditional Greek items, I spent hours in there! I will do a post in the next few days with all the items that I bought in here.
Sadly I didn't take any photos while I was in the New Town! I was too busy being super excited due to the presence of Zara, Mango, H&M, Sephora, The Body Shop and Starbucks! In all my excitement I forgot to take photos! It's bad I know, but a great excuse to go back! And a great excuse for you all to go and visit as I haven't shown you everything!!
Be sure to check back in this week for more photos from my trip to Greece!
